Web Junk 20

VH-1 has a new show that involves taking video clips from the internet and putting them on TV. Let me repeat, they show video from the internet on television. Even if the clip was originally from a TV show, they don’t bother with tracking it down, they just show the pixely clip from the internet. And for some reason, I can’t stop watching.

Web Junk 20 is a partnership between VH-1 and ifilm.
You can see all the clips on ifilm. Or you can choose to watch the show. Both are annoying in their own ways.

There are plenty of things to complain about. The most notable is that it's a countdown show, but there's nothing to count down, not quality, not time, nothing. And it's not like the clips they're showing are new that week. Last week they showed the clip of the polar bear trying to eat the girl in the seal hat.

But the show is still amazing for what it is. Internet becomes TV. Sure, TV can be seen on the internet. But the internet seen on TV? That’s usually reserved for trash news stories about cyberstalking or lame sitcom dating plots…. Just another sign of the future…
