Also, I happened to click on the "are" link, followed by "Seriously," and the result is that I caught up on a week's worth of cheezburger-has-ing lolcats, and then immediately after I saw a picture of a cat with a face ravaged by cancer. And my reaction was to laugh, even though the poor cat had cancer, because I had been primed to laugh at unusual pictures of cats. I bet you could design an experiment along these lines for pictures of goofy and then cancer-ravaged humans, and I bet your test subjects would feel really, really shitty about themselves afterwards.
