Yeah, I saw this in the Sunday NYT a week or two ago. The paper's not all. Deep in the NYT article, the dude starts talking about this class-4 laser he's buying, calling it "the strongest laser a civilian can own" or something. Anyhow, he wants to use lasers to cook food inside out, so that for bread, for example, the outside would be nice and soft, and the inside would be crustier.
